Elegant Portraits

Hello :) It's been another week of vintage style scrapping for me. I just love the whole vintage thing! The following layouts use old family photos and I just love them. The lady in my first layouts looks fantastic in her outfit and I just adore the hat. I used the amazing kit, History Starts Now, which is part of the Nifty Designer's series. It's due to retire soon so go grab it now if you like it :)

I was playing with negative space with these pages. I blended three papers together in the first layout and two in the second. Next I created clusters around the photos and then placed these clusters in the corners. I am hoping to experiment more with this style in future pages as I really like the look. Creating the right background is as important as the clusters and it took me a while to get it right, but defiantly worth the time :)

I'd love to see what you've been creating too so please feel free to share a link to your projects or pages in the comments, Natasha :)

Creative Ideas - Backgrounds and Overlays

Hi :) My second post for Lynne Anzelc Designs can now be found at Lynne's blog, Backgrounds and Overlays.

In this post I explore how by just changing the background the look and feel of a page can be changed. Here is one of the examples:

Honeysuckle

Hello, I hope that everyone is keeping well and crafting lots :) This week I created a page for Daisytrail's Floral Alpha challenge and this week the letter is H and I choose Honeysuckle as my flower to scrap out of the three options given.

Honeysuckle
The magnifier made a perfect frame for my photo of honeysuckle that I took in the garden a couple of years ago. I processed the photo with Snapseed to give it a vintage look so that it would fit in with the page style better.

I blended a number of brushes into the background in the spaces just to add a little extra texture to the paper.

Next I wanted to add some journaling to the page and the two pieces of paper torn from a book were perfect for this. For the flower on the page "stuck down" by tape I used the colour burn blend. And the postcard finished off the rest of my journaling nicely. Finally I embellished with flowers, leaves and insects.

I used two wonderful kits by DigiFiddle DesignsA Fragrant Memory and Dear Diary.

Daisytrail run a number of challenges each month, check out their site for further details.

The Brambles Portfolio

Hello, this week I've been scrapping "The Brambles" which is a favourite topic of mine :) This latest project is a portfolio containing some of the photos I've taken over the last two or three years. All the photos have been processed in Snapseed to give them a slightly vintage or grunge effect. I used the beautiful kit Pot Pourri by DigiFiddle Designs. Also today (Monday 5th January 2015 only) I am Featured Page on Daisytrail with my third layout :) It was a lovely surprise and really made my day!

This kit was just perfect for my portfolio. It's a versatile kit that contains many more embellishments and papers, with a mix of other items such as a teddy bear and a camper van too! And don't forget to check out the DigiFiddle Art Gallery for more inspiration :)

On the front cover I blended a photo of African daisies into the background paper. I used the darker part of the page like it was the binding for the portfolio and added some embellishments. The camera was a perfect finish as the portfolio displays lots of photos that I'd taken :)

The second page I made use of a number of frames and the flower to embellish. The stamp creates a perfect "journal paper" in order to add notes to the pages. Lastly I created some mini flower clusters to just finish it off.

The third page I again used a number of frames. Two of these are masks and after adding the photo I blended them into the background paper using the overlay blend mode. Finishing off with some journaling.

The back cover, as for the front I used a paper that had a darker area that looked like binding. Layering up with a number of embellishments, photos in frames and a touch of journaling to finish.

I thoroughly enjoyed creating this little project and using this kit :) If you've been busy on a project and would like to share please feel free to add a link into the comments, I'd love to take a look :) Natasha

Scrapbook Diary 2015 Week 1 and Wish List

Hello and welcome to my first post of 2015 :) These layouts are from my first post, for my new weekly Scrapbook Diary post at E-scape and Scrap.

My Scrapbook Diary 2015 Wish List

My Scrapbook Diary Week 1
My Scrapbook Diary 2015 Week 1
I love the vintage feel of the kits that I used to create these two layouts with. Perfect for a general all year round page for my wish list and with the addition of embellishments from the Christmas kit perfect for my week 1 page. Christmas is not over until all the cards are taken down on twelfth night! I had great fun creating these pages, layering up all the elements and finding a home for them all on the board!

If you'd like to join in with Scrapbook Diary 2015 post your layouts to the E-scape and Scrap Scrapbook Diary Gallery.

Are you keeping a diary this year? If so what type? Handwritten, scrapbook, art journal or something else? I love this pin board idea, what do you think?

Created mainly with the lovely kit Vintage Memory Board by AneczkaW.
